Vision is the ability to see
Vision is the ability to read and understand
Vision is to give meaning
Vision is to speak out on the obvious and not so obvious

Vision is to speak out on the past and the present
Vision is to speak out then on the future based on the two
Vision is to lead to introspection on the 'here and now'
Vision is to eke out hope for the future 'there and then'

What is my vision for my own self and my own family lines to come?
What is the vision for our own people and our own land that we love?
What is it to listen to the One who determine the destinations of us all?
What is the 'given vision' for our own-selves, our families and our people?

8 years of relationship

8 years of relationship,
of protecting their bodies against a virus or two,
of protecting them so they protect the others too.

we intend to help them help themselves,
so they acquire skills to protect themselves,
so they learn to defend and fend for themselves.

today we reflect after 8 years,
have we touch their inner being - their heart and soul?
have we learn to share what's good for their soul?

protecting the body has given them health,
but we have missed to reach beyond the surface,
but the heart, the soul and the spirit lie below the surface.

our friendship of so many years,
would it only end at the project's end?
would we not care for life-journey's end?

Talking to God at Jim Corbett Resort

Lord, I confessed that ‘lack of spiritual growth’ is my ‘struggle’

That manifested in my lack of controlling the tongue

‘Listening is the key’ so was I told ‘to fight the menace’

That as I listen more to my Master,

I’d also learn to listen more to the others

‘First thoughts’ are often ‘thoughtless thoughts’

They mostly come from the flesh alone

But words that come as we listen first

Have healing power as the Gilead balm.

My ‘old name’ I said is ‘Rising and Falling’

‘Un-stable’ is me as the shifting sand

(What a reassurance when being told

That normal Christian life is also such so!)

My ‘new name’ I want it to be – ‘stable’

And I was told that ‘stability’ comes

When ‘rooted and established’ in Him alone

My ‘desire’ I said is ‘to be a blessing for others’

And the route to this so was I told

‘Be like Mary the mother of the Lord’

She considered not of her shame or pain

But was rejoicing as she saw by faith  

The salvation of mankind that was to come   

As she would obey the heavenly bidding

She also knew somehow a day would come  

When she would be called ‘blessed’ by generations to come

taming the tongue

the tongue - likened to 'bid' for horses, 'rudder' for ships, a 'small spark fire', that can become dangerous as a  'restless evil', 'full of deadly weapon', 'a world of evil among the parts of the body', that can 'corrupt the whole body', as if it 'is itself set on fire by hell'

the tongue - to use the same for praising the Lord and Father and curse men - is like expecting fresh water and salt water from the same spring!

taming the tongue - is a victory not easily won - but one must to keep 'the whole body in check'.

The Poor, The Rich and My Faith

Reflections on  ‘Santiago’

The poor and the rich

The poor (people in humble circumstances)

·      Are in ‘high position’ as regarded by God and they ought to take pride in that high position 

·      God chose those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised to those who loves him

·      Often insulted by others (e.g. often given the lowest seats when they come to a meeting)

The rich

·      Are in ‘low position’ as regarded by God and the right attitude is to see it that way because ‘they will soon pass away like a wild flower’ – the will fade away while they go about their business

·      The rich are exploiting others

·      The rich are people who drag others to court

·      The rich are the ones who are slandering the noble name of The Lord

·       Often shown favoritism by others e.g. offered the best seats in a meeting and thus make other to sin by showing favoritism 

·      There is the danger of God’s judgment for those who show favoritism – do you show favor to the rich (by offering better seats!)

The 3 Tests

1.     ‘Listening and doing’ test – merely listening to ‘the word’ (Bible) and not doing or obeying what you listen or heard is like seeing yourself in a mirror (the Bible) and walking away from it and forgetting what you see. The blessings are only for those who obey.

2.     ‘Saying and doing’ test – saying and not doing (e.g. saying to the poor – be well, keep warm and be well fed but not doing anything about their physical needs) – God will judge according to how you ‘speak and act or not act’

3.     ‘Having faith and acting upon it’ test  - the proof of having ‘faith’ is what you do (your action) as a result of your faith. A step of faith is taking a a step or to move based on your faith

Lord, help me to see the way you see about people in humble circumstances and those who are not. Help me to remember that as I read your word I am to obey and to apply it in my life and to act upon it in faith, Amen.

the fools and the wise

Fools come and go and won't stop even when the fool me is gone,
For many will come and we do form the majority in the sea of humanity;
How do we know we are the 'fools',
We knew it because we are made to feel thus by the few 'wise ones',
The wise one do not know one thing though,
That the fools are the ones  who affirm their 'wisdom' and thus made their day!

CHOICES

The God who interferes not with individual choices

The God who warns people of the consequences of their choices

The God who brings punishment when man disobeys

The God who has mercy when man repents of sins and returns to him

The God who blesses when he is worshipped

He gives choices

To choose his way or otherwise

He warns them of the consequences

The consequences he brings for sure

A disaster or a blessing

Depending on the choice that is made

His has mercy for one who turns back to him

No matter how deep the fall might have been

He restores anyone who returns to him

Relationship with God is individualistic

It is not inherited

Although it can be held jointly

It cannot passed on through human heritage

Each one has to make the choice

The choice one makes can affect others

Depending on the position he gives or entrusts

A king’s choice affects his citizen’s lives

As his people follows his diktats

And also reaps the consequences of such actions

Good – blessings

Bad- curses

Relationship with God is personal

Even though His covenant is eternal

You and I still need to make our choices

Rightly or wrongly to determine our destiny

Every day and for every occasion till we die.

“ALL IS NOT LOST YET”

Singing and praising was what Paul and Silas did in Philippi jail

No one could stop them even with chains or prison walls,

Their singing and praying did carry their hearts to God

I guess people couldn't stop listening to this strange happening,

Not one of crying but one of praying to One unseen

The Spirit came down as on Pentecost,

Breaking right through the prison walls

It also did break through walls of another kind

And made the prisoners more concerned with safety of another kind

That of the souls rather than that of the bodies

So they remained there even after they were unbound,

Desiring to know what's all about that’s happening there

The prison keeper whose fear was of losing his job

With which I believe he supported his loved ones

Might be a fear of losing face and dear life too

He was out there trying end it all in his own way

Only to be assured by Paul that ‘all was not lost yet’

Don’t give up hope; we are all still here

And we would not let you lose your dear life.

His last desperate cry was a plea to know

What must he do for his safety and for his family?

The prisoners heard the agonizing plea

It made them ask: ‘OK, what about my safety too’

And not just mine but of my family too

You may also feel today that all is lost

And there is no point in living more

You thought you only live to face disgrace and shame

There's still a hope and that the message

There is One who care for such as you through the darkest nights

Even when you think you’re at your wits’ end the journey’s end

There is a message from Paul and Silas from the deepest and darkest prison cell

That would exactly meet your very need

And all it says is "ALL IS NOT LOST YET".

life changes..

Life changes everyday

Today never hands us the same thing twice

But for everyone else life is a mixture of problems too

Our struggles are worthwhile because

It brings us closer to God

Solomon caught the vision

Solomon's plan materialized

Detail plan -architecture -lengths, breadths, heights and all that

Details are boring but most essential

Details will work with systems in place

Systems are boring but are critical

Upon the systems you need hands-on experts

People who know how the end would look like

And also know how to proceed step by step towards the finale.
